Akash
Chopra former Indian cricketer and now a well-known commentator was sent back
from the world’s biggest T20 tournament IPL (Indian Premier League). Representing
the Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural season of IPL in 2008 in which he
played 5 games and was managed to contribute 42 runs in 5 matches at an average
of 8.40 with a strike rate of 80.76.
During
the second season of IPL in 2009 Kolkata Knight Riders won only 3 games out of
14 and was were the table-toppers from the bottom. In the same edition of IPL a
blog named “FAKE IPL PLAYER” started gaining popularity, and it didn’t have the name
of any author. It posted many controversial stories about IPL and most of them
were related to Kolkata Knight Riders. Due to this blog, the atmosphere of the
team was much tensed and also they were playing very poorly in the tournament. It
was believed that this blog is being run by Akash Chopra or Sanjay Bangar
because both of them were very fluent in English writing and they used to write
articles for newspapers most often.
Due
to Akash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar being suspect of running the blog both of
they were sent back home from (South Africa) in the mid of the tournament. But later
everyone came to know that the blog is been ran by a man named Anupam Mukherjee
who is now a popular writer. Everyone assumed that Sanjay Bangar and Akash
Chopra were sent back because of their bad performances but later in 2014 Akash
Chopra revealed the real reason behind of homecoming, he also added that many
people still ask me were you the guy behind “FAKE IPL PLAYER” blog, and I still
reply to them no I wasn’t.
